This is Epth Nation

Epth is a state of mind, not a place. Reading this will give you a virtual drivers license in that state, but you'll still need to be 21 to purchase alcohol. And you can't get any there anyway, so stop asking.

Great Developments of Today

First of all, I found this interesting web site -- www.tvsquad.com. They blog stuff about TV and have people comment on it. They wrote a classic tongue-in-cheek article about how Arrested Development should be cancelled, and (judging by the comments afterward) about half the people who read it got the sarcasm. Of course, you never know when the commenters themselves are being sarcastic themselves, so it's all a big postmodern mess. It's an interesting battle of the humorless vs. the mockers. I tend to side with the mockers, as you might have noticed.

Also, American Idol is being rocked by scandal after scandal, kind of like the Green Bay Packers. At least something is rocking that show. More on this when it all goes down.

At work today I got some news that relates to an ongoing investigation, so I can't share it. I will say that it relates to a police raid in Bedford, a suburb of Dallas, and that I'm very glad I kept good shipping records. That doesn't make any sense, I know, but I've beent shaking my head over it all afternoon.

On a final note, this happened in my delivery area. It's a fatal robbery, for those who won't or can't register to see the article. At least they caught the guys who they think did it. By the way, for those that remember my pizza delivery 2-part post -- this apartment complex is right next door to Copper Scum.

that arrested development story is so funny and well-written. how many people do you think don't get it? most? probably.

and what does halting production mean? that's it? or they're just stalling while they wait for some board to vote on the fate of the show?

it's strange to me how fox can be so good and so bad at the same time. arrested development and family guy alone carry the network's reputation for me. but everything is so darn terrible.

i tried to think of a metaphor for fox. something real good. something more bad than good, but still good enough to keep coming back to. can you think of one? i'll keep it in my brain today and see what i come up with.

Alright, here's the deal -- my sources are optimistic about there being a Season III of Arrested. Fox is re-running season II episodes this summer, which makes no sense unless they're going to bring it back.

They halted production and cut down season II from 22 episodes to 18. Right after this, David Cross was on some talk show and made his comment about how they were going to be cancelled so Fox could show "America's Funniest Retards". This got the rumor mill going that Arrested was going to be cancelled. Then the chick at Fox who was a champion of Arrested left Fox, and people figured it was dead.

Ron Howard produces it, however, and the ratings aren't all that bad, as in O.C. bad. This, coupled with all the Emmys the show has won and the summer re-runs and not to mention how bad it would look for them if they cancelled Arrested and brought shows like "Stacked" back, suggests that there will be a season III.

FOX has always been like this, starting with their pairing of "The Simpsons" and "Married: With Children". I'll try to think of a metaphor, too.
